Mental health issues for men have long been a silent epidemic. We know, that “the expression of depression is healthier than the repression of depression,” but we rarely allow men the opportunity to express. It is not the case that men naturally repress but rather that we as a society have caused a situation where men cannot openly show signs of weakness. Arguably, this has led to a situation where we paradoxically have higher rates of depression in women but suicide is almost four times as common in men. Therefore services that provide help focussing specifically on men’s issues are both of great importance and need and we are very proud to offer this service as part of the practice.
