Oliver was inspired to become a psychologist after working as a personal carer in a public hospital, where he witnessed the therapeutic value of listening, non-judgement, and compassion. He remains committed to these principles in his clinical practice, where he strives to build an authentic and trusting relationship with clients to work through whatever challenges they may be experiencing.
Oliver holds a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Melbourne. His approach draws on a range of therapies, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Schema Therapy. Oliver has also been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Prolonged Exposure (PE), two evidence-based treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related difficulties.
Oliver has worked with older adolescents and adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, trauma-related distress, substance use, grief and loss, identity concerns, and relational issues. Oliver has published research on trauma-informed care and is passionate about creating a safe and inclusive therapeutic environment where healing can occur.
